AI & Open Source Projects
Explore OpenInfo’s work with responsible AI, open source and technology projects for social good in Norway.
Open technology that can be understood, shared and improved
OpenInfo is a Norwegian non-profit working to put transparency, privacy and social value at the centre of artificial intelligence and digital services. We develop projects, publish practical knowledge and explore how open source can give people and organisations meaningful control over the technology they use.
Open source makes it possible to inspect how a solution works, assess security and privacy, and build further without unnecessary vendor lock-in. For AI, choices about models, data flows, licences, infrastructure and safeguards influence risk, cost and the values a solution ultimately supports.
What we work on
- Responsible AI: solutions with clear purposes, limitations and data practices.
- Open AI models: knowledge about open-weight models, local deployment, licences, privacy and practical use.
- Technology for social good: digital tools that make knowledge and services more accessible.
- Open learning: free courses, articles and resources without a paywall.
From ideas to working projects
Our work includes Davn.ai, an open project for collaboration and verification between AI agents, and VekstKlar, which helps founders examine markets, risks and funding opportunities. Our project pages explain the goals, technology and lessons from the work.
To understand the difference between open and closed AI systems, read our guide to open AI models, covering open source, open weights, local deployment, licences and privacy.
Work with OpenInfo
We welcome collaboration with non-profits, researchers, public organisations, founders and technology communities that share the goal of making technology more responsible and accessible. A collaboration can begin with a clearly scoped problem, an open prototype, knowledge sharing or a project with demonstrable social value.
